This is Hatfield! • Spring Celebration

Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptised by one Spirit so as to form one body – whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free – and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. And so the body is not made up of one part but of many.
1 Corinthians 12:12-14 NIVUK

Our Spring Celebration is more than an event, it’s a glimpse of who we are as a church family: a community of many parts, united in Christ, celebrating life together.

On Sunday, 14 September, we’ll gather for our annual Spring Celebration, themed This is Hatfield! A day where different generations, languages, and backgrounds come together as one body in Christ. From vibrant worship in the morning service to food, soccer, and fun on the lawns in the afternoon, it’s a time to celebrate … and you’re invited! 🌺🌻🌼🎈🎉

Spring Celebration Service • 10:00

Come ready to worship on Sunday, 14 September, from 10:00, as we celebrate with vibrant expressions of diversity and festive colour. Our Sunday service will be a rich, multigenerational and multilingual expression as we embrace the different languages that reflect the beautiful diversity of our congregation. And, yes, there will be ice cream. 🍦😋

C4G children, Reverb youth and Hatfield Young Adults: We’ll all join the main service for our multigenerational celebration. Note, too, that there’s no evening service on Sunday, 14 September.

Dress the Part

To show our unity in diversity and colourful joy, we’re inviting you to wear one of our Hatfield vision colours on the day. Imagine the church and lawns filled with bright shades of our vision, family, heritage, and faith.

Stay the Afternoon • Connect as a Community

After the morning service, we’ll continue the celebration as a community. Enjoy fun activities, take photos, connect with different people, and bring your braai or picnic essentials or money to buy food, for a comfortable day.

  • Bring-and-braai or picnic: we will provide the fires; please bring your meat to cook. 🥩🥗🔥
  • Food Market: life is busy, and we don’t always have time to plan. Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered! If you didn’t bring a meal, stop at the food market to buy something for everyone and enjoy the fellowship.
  • Connecting: if you’re unsure where to sit or how to connect with the larger congregation, look out for our Hatfield Singles, Young Adults, Reverb youth, C4G, or Connect gazebos.
  • Fun activities: soccer, lawn games, board games, carnival games, and a jumping castle for the youngsters. ⚽🥅🎈
  • Graffiti wall: leave your mark on our graffiti wall. 🎨
  • Photo booth:  make sure to take a selfie at our photo booth. 📸🤳
  • Live MC and music. 🎶

What to bring: Your own meat for the braai or money to buy food and drinks from the food market, a gazebo, table, camping chairs or a picnic blanket, a hat, and sunscreen. Don’t forget comfortable shoes – ladies, high heels are not advised! 😉 We will provide some shade and tables on a first-come, first-served basis.

Parents: We know you love your children and won’t let them out of your sight. Please pick up a wristband from our info tent and write your contact number on it in case they run off. Parents are responsible for their own children.

Bring your colours, your joy, your family, and your friends. We can’t wait to see you there! 🌸
