“… the essence of Mandela Day – take action, inspire change, and make every day a Mandela Day – is more important than ever before.” – Nelson Mandela Foundation
Family, Mandela Day is here and we would LOVE it if you joined forces with us and spent your 67 minutes sorting through your closet – or doing a bit of shopping – for items to donate to our Hatfield Warehouse.
The theme for this year’s Mandela Day is “do what you can, with what you have, wherever you are,” and our Hatfield Warehouse will, with your help, be spreading warmth and basic food supplies to those in need.
If you’re not sure what to do or how you can make a difference this year, we’ve got a guide for the types of items you can donate below.
Clothes (in good condition):
*All clothing items welcome. In special need of the following
- Men’s shoes (especially casual shoes in good condition)
- Men’s and boy’s clothing (all sizes)
Food:
- Tinned food (fish, corned meat, baked beans)
- Maize meal
- Packet soups
- Cooking oil
- Salt
- Sugar
- Rice
- Tea (especially Rooibos)
- Soya mince

- Peanut Butter
You can drop off your items at the church reception, where marked containers will be placed until the end of July.
Your Mandela Day donation doesn’t have to be a once-a-year, once-off thing. The Hatfield Warehouse is always open to receive donations throughout the year. Additionally, the Nelson Mandela Foundation website has a list of great things that you can do to cultivate a habit of generosity. You can access the list by clicking here >>.
Let’s do what we can, with what we have by being the difference in our communities and on our frontlines!
