You Are My Refuge

Silence (two minutes)

Still your heart before Him.

‘Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.’

– Psalm 61:1-3 (NIV)

Where can we go to when our heart grows faint? According to this scripture, we have ‘a rock that is higher than I’, ‘a refuge’ and ‘a strong tower’ that we can go to when our hearts fail us. Like David the psalmist says, ‘You are my hiding place.’ (Psalm 32:7 NIV), ‘I take refuge in the shelter of your wings.’ (Psalm 61:4 NIV) and ‘The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.’ (Psalm 28:7 NIV)

Lord, I choose for You to be my safe place where I can go to find security and my soul can be restored. Thank You that You are bigger than the circumstances I face. When I’m in a safe place I can hear Your voice clearly.

Meditate (two minutes)
