The fall of man started in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve being tempted by the devil to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Satan, in the form of a serpent, came to Eve and started weaving a web of lies, deceit, and half-truths and that same sneaky snake is still hard at work today.
Adam and Eve had known God in such a personal way. How magnificent it would have been for Adam and Eve to walk with God in the cool of the evening and chat with Him about all the happenings of that day. In stark contrast, after eating from the tree of knowledge and being sent away from the garden of Eden, the sense of loss and absolute regret that both of them endured must have been staggering.
In our lives, we too fall into various traps of sin. Because God has given us the ultimate gift of free will, we are responsible for the choices we make, and as such, we live with the consequences of those choices.
We are so blessed and privileged to have our wonderful Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Because of His death and resurrection, we are forgiven of our sins.
Romans 6:23 (NIV)
‘For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.’
