Psalm 23 can speak to us in many critical times of our lives. There may be a variety of different times where we could do with comfort, guidance, and hope in our lives. This could be either in work or in our personal lives.
Our promise this week reminds us that, regardless of the circumstances, God can always come in to refresh and restore our souls.
Psalm 23:1-3 (NKJV)
'The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.'
Needless to say, just like the sheep, we are also incapable of defending ourselves against the schemes of the devil, primarily because of our fallen nature that dominates our behaviour. It causes us to fall into sin and later we wish that we had never done what we did. At such times, it is vital that we repent and allow the Lord - our ever watchful and caring Shepherd - to restore us.
Thank you, Father, that Your love for us is so strong. Thank you that You lead us into places and times of quiet and rest and You renew our souls.
