God wants us to prosper and do well in life. He does not want us to struggle from the one day to the next. He desires for His goodness and mercy to flow through us in order to touch the brokenness of the world.
You do not need to come from a wealthy family, have a university degree or live in a prestigious neighbourhood. You just need to be you, and that is enough for God. When you come as you are to Him and give your life to Him, He makes you His child and loves you with an unconditional love. From that day, He delights in you, and if you are willing, He will direct your steps.
"The steps of a [good] man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way [and He busies Himself with his every step]. Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the Lord grasps his hand in support and upholds him." (Psalm 37:23-24 AMP)
There are not many guarantees in life, but when it comes to God, whatever His Word is, that will come to pass. God cannot lie so when He says He establishes your ways as He delights in you that is what He will do. When He says that even though you may fall; you will not bump your head as He is always holding onto you; that is what will happen.
It was always and often still is difficult for me to expect good things to happen to me, and therefore, I prepare myself to expect the worse outcome. As a child of God, I have all the reason to have hope and expect good things to happen, but through my own thoughts, I limit myself from seeing God's goodness in my life. I still find myself at times, wonder how God can use His time to invest in me when there are more critical things in this world that require His attention. The truth is that nothing is more important to God than His children—you and me.
Because of God's goodness, when we fall or make a mistake, we do not need to expect the worse outcome; we can still expect God's favour to be over us (Romans 8:28). We can still expect His goodness as His grace is greater than our mistakes (Romans 5:20). He is always with us, and His goodness is not depending on our good behaviour, but on Jesus and what He already did for us at the cross so many years ago. Today, we can walk in the fruits of the sacrifice He made for us.
As we dedicate our days to the Lord, He will instruct us in the way we should go. We read in Psalm 25:12, "Who is the man who fears the LORD? Him will he instruct in the way that he should choose." The Lord will guard our feet (1 Samuel 2:9) and set them on a rock as He makes our steps secure in Him (Psalm 40:2).
When the Lord delights in you, you are guaranteed to see His good success in your life as He transforms you into His image through the Holy Spirit that lives in you.
