Because of the fall of man, there is a barrier of separation between man and God. This barrier is sin. Shame is a by-product of sin, and the devil uses it to significant effect in our lives. Some examples of emotions that tie into shame are feelings of inadequacy, inferiority, and the need for comparison.
Even once we have given our hearts to Jesus, the feeling of being an 'inadequate' Christian, or not doing 'enough' for His church could become a burden in our lives. All of this is part of the enemy's great deception; that we take our eyes off of Jesus and focus on ourselves and our shortcomings.
Our Abba Father, the Creator of the universe and everything within it, loves us so much and He has given us such a blessed assurance of how precious we are in His sight. This is clearly seen in our promise for this week.
Colossians 2:13-15 (NLT)
'You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away.
Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He cancelled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.'
