Embraced Moments

I was once again privileged to walk on a beach with the wonderful opportunity to embrace the endless blue sky and the ocean breeze on my face and skin. The rolling sound from the waves is like music in a peaceful atmosphere. Various seabirds are around waiting for a mussel, crab or scrap as the waves move to and fro. This specific place is known for the long sandy beach with some rocks at intervals and the beauty of the surrounds and atmosphere was just awesome. Psalm 33:7 In the Amplified Bible reads; “He gathers the waters of the sea as in a bottle; He puts the deeps in storage places.” This is how great God is. Therefore “He Christ shall have dominion also from sea to sea and from the River Euphrates to the ends of the earth.” (Ps 72:8)

Even though sometimes the perfect sunshine suddenly turns grey and the wind may be whipping and there is rain in the air, the sea still fascinates me. I just find it irresistible, although the wind may hit the sand against my legs and chase through my hair, literally driving you off the beach, away from it all. ”If any one lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, without doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.” (James 1:5, New King James)

I can, for long periods, watch huge waves blow against the rocks and send spray into the air, and foam washing in between the rocks. I could also observe that the rock pools are exposed at low tide but at high tide they are filled with sand. From the safety of those rocks I am reminded of my Rock; “He only is my Rock and my Salvation, my Defence and my Fortress. I shall not be greatly moved.” (Ps. 62:2, Amplified Bible.)

Playing “Catch me if you can” with the tossing waves in the realisation that God has placed the sand for the boundary of the sea. ’’’Do you not fear Me?” says the Lord. ‘Will you not tremble at My presence, who have placed the sand as the bound of the sea, by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass beyond it? And though its waves toss to and fro, yet they cannot prevail; though they roar, yet they cannot pass over it.”’ (Jer. 5:22, New King James.)

On one particular day I was collecting some shells and small pebbles. From a distance I could see a young man walking on the beach and I was wondering why he was on his own, but never the less kept on collecting shells. At one stage when I looked up again, this young man was walking up to me and said; ”I see you are picking up shells” He held out his hand, filled with shells, handing it to me. Without hesitation I held out my hand to receive them. He placed the shells in my hand, smiled and walked away. I was moved by this young man’s action, and was convinced that God send this young man specifically to me. You may have wondered, but no ……. he was not an angel! God knew that this was the place where we spent our last holiday with our son, two years ago, a couple of months before he passed away.

I then realised, that with each opportunity coming my way, I am learning something that is worthwhile. I believe the goal of my live is to live it to the fullness, to embrace significant moments, and without fear to reach for the next opportunity. Also to trust God in all of this, for He is a faithful God who will never leave nor forsake me. And I thank the Lord for His promise in Ps. 139: 9 & 10 that says; “If I take the wings of the morning, or dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea. Even there shall Your hand lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.”
