As we look at the world that we live in, we can clearly see that the apostle Paul had great insight when he penned the letter to the Ephesians; in chapter 6 he writes, 'the battle we fight is not against flesh and blood but against the powers, rulers and principalities of this dark age' (verse 12).
Sometimes we are overwhelmed by all the darkness out there. It is interesting to note that another name for Satan is Lucifer which means brightness. Often one is drawn into the temptation of placing great value in appearances, things, wealth, and status because it all looks so 'bright and shiny'.
The amazing news is that we serve a faithful God who delights in the prayers of His children and this is our promise for the week.
2 Kings 6:16-17 (NKJV)
'So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.”
Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.'
This is such an encouragement to each of us. As we face each day and deal with the 'bright and shiny' false temptations as well as the 'darkness', it is truly wonderful to know that we are not alone and that ‘those who are with us are more than those against us’.
