Andrew was the First disciple, in the Eastern church, he is referred to as the “Protokletos” meaning the first called. He left his family business of fishing to follow Christ. He was first a follower of John the Baptist
How do we raise up disciples in the word? The challenge is that it is one thing to know the Word but another to know God.
Did you know that Jesus had a brother who was an unbeliever? His name was James. James was a son of Mary and Joseph and therefore a half-brother to Jesus and brother to Joseph, Simon, Judas, and their sisters (Matthew 13:55).
One of the skills any disciple should have is the ability to wait with readiness. A disciple knows how to eagerly seek with all their heart while also being able to wait upon the Lord. Think of the story of the man at the well in John 5 as well as the parable of the wise and foolish virgins. Are you seeking the Lord with all your heart but can also wait patiently for the Lord’s timing?
